Modalities
Craniosacral Therapy
This therapy, developed by John Upledger, D.O., O.M.M., works with the rhythm of the craniosacral system to relieve pain and enhance body function. This rhythm is a result of the production of fluid that surrounds our brain and spinal cord, and can be used to diagnose and correct restrictions in the body. This very gentle technique can have amazing results for correcting learning disabilities, relieving chronic pain, increasing restful sleep, correcting TMJ dysfunction, alleviating migraines and headaches, and correcting scoliosis. Beneficial for newborns, children and adults, this therapy is done with the client fully clothed, and uses a very gentle touch to nudge the body into self-healing.
Neuromuscular Therapy
N.M.T. is a modality of massage therapy that focuses on finding the specific origins of muscle dysfunction and breaking the pain and tension cycles our muscles habituate to. N.M.T. is especially beneficial for pain referral due to nerve entrapment, increasing range of motion, headache relief, relief of chronic pain due to muscle injury or tension, and generally increases muscle health.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue massage is directed towards the deeper layers of muscles, with the intention of removing restrictions. Deep Tissue is very effective for breaking down the lactic acid that builds up between muscle fibers and creates what feels like knots in the muscles. The amount of pressure used depends upon the sensitivity of muscles and the comfort of the client. This modality is most beneficial for clients who are very active, have high stress levels, or are recovering from injuries.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy that brings circulation to congested muscles, boosts immunity, elevates moods, and relieves muscle pain. Small glass jars are suctioned to the areas in need, pulling toxins out of the tissues and allowing circulation to more easily penetrate the muscles. Cupping can leave marks similar to bruising, but not painful. This treatment can be added to a massage or done by itself in a 30 minute session.
Chair Massage is ideal for corporate events and social gatherings. Using a portable chair the massages are done fully clothes in 5-15 minute increments. Different massage techniques are employed, with concentration on the back and neck.
Lymph Drainage Therapy
LDT is a gentle technique that enhances your body’s lymphatic flow. Through subtle touch, great changes are made in the body’s ability to detoxify. Unless able to be active all day, our lymph (fluid which detoxifies our bodies) becomes more like the consistency of Crisco. LDT turns the lymph back into its proper water-like form. Properly flowing lymph means your immune system is stronger. This therapy also increases healthy fluid flow into skin, muscles, joints, etc., resulting in wounds healing more quickly, reduction in wrinkles, draining of sinuses, and improvement of arthritic symptoms. It is very important to drink a lot of water before and after receiving Lymph Drainage Therapy.
